What time is check-in?

If you expect to arrive after 8:00 PM Mountain Time, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements for your arrival.

Check-out is by 10:00 AM Mountain Time. Please leave your cabin keys inside the cabin before departing.

Yes. Fresh towels, bed linens, pillows, and blankets are provided for every cabin. Limited housekeeping services are available during your stay.

Yes. All of our cabins include air conditioning and heat to keep you comfortable throughout your stay.

No. Our cabins offer a variety of amenities to accommodate different needs and budgets. While every cabin includes a private bathroom, Smart TV, complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heat, and a coffee maker, other amenities vary by cabin. Some cabins feature full kitchens, while others include a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Please review the amenities listed on each cabin’s page before making your reservation.

Our full kitchen cabins and Vacation Rental include cookware, dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee mugs, cooking utensils, pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker, blender, and many other basic kitchen essentials to help you prepare meals during your stay.

No. Cabins with kitchenettes include a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker, but they do not include dishes, cookware, utensils, or cooking supplies.

Yes! We rent propane gas grills for $20 for your entire stay, which includes one propane cylinder. Additional propane cylinders are available for purchase if needed. Please ask at the office if you’d like to rent a grill.

Yes. Every cabin includes a Smart TV and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi. Guests will need to sign in using their own streaming service accounts, such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, or other compatible streaming services.

Holy Smoke Resort uses Starlink satellite internet throughout the property. While it provides excellent service for most guests, the available bandwidth is shared by everyone staying at the resort. During busy times, especially in the evenings when many guests are streaming videos or using multiple devices, internet speeds may slow down or it may take longer for additional devices to connect. For the best experience, we recommend limiting the number of connected devices when possible.

Yes! Complimentary coffee is provided in every cabin. Cabins without full kitchens also include cream and sugar packets for your convenience, so you can enjoy a fresh cup of coffee before heading out to explore the Black Hills.

Dogs are welcome in designated pet-friendly cabins only. There is a charge of $10 per dog, per night, with a maximum of two dogs. Dogs must be leashed outdoors, cleaned up after immediately, and crated if left unattended inside the cabin.

Yes! Holy Smoke Resort has a private dog park where your furry friends can run, play, and stretch their legs. We ask that all dogs remain under their owner’s supervision and that owners clean up after their pets to help keep the dog park clean and enjoyable for everyone.

We offer limited trailer parking for guests staying in our cabins. If you’re bringing a motorcycle trailer or other recreational trailer, please let us know when making your reservation so we can direct you to the designated parking area.

Yes! Deer, wild turkeys, foxes, squirrels, and a variety of birds are commonly seen around the resort. Guests occasionally spot elk and mountain goats in the surrounding Black Hills. Please enjoy wildlife from a safe distance and never feed wild animals.

No. Cabins are thoroughly cleaned and stocked before your arrival. Daily housekeeping is not provided during your stay. If you need fresh towels or additional supplies, please stop by the office and we’ll be happy to assist you.

What time is RV check-in?

RV site check-in begins at 12:00 PM Mountain Time. If you plan to arrive after 8 PM Mountain Time, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements for your arrival.

RV site check-out is by 11:00 AM Mountain Time.

Yes. Every RV site includes full hookups with water, sewer, and electric service for your convenience.

Yes. All RV sites offer both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, making them suitable for a wide variety of RVs and motorhomes.

All of our RV sites are spacious pull-through sites, making arrival and departure easy for RVs of nearly every size.

Our pull-through RV sites range from approximately 65 to 110 feet in length, providing plenty of room for your RV and tow vehicle.

Yes. Every RV site includes a picnic table, providing a comfortable place to enjoy meals, relax outdoors, or spend time with family and friends.

Yes. Complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi is available throughout the RV Park. Because the internet bandwidth is shared by all guests, connection speeds may vary during busy periods when many people are streaming or using multiple devices at the same time.

No. We do not offer cable TV service at our RV sites. However, complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. If your RV is equipped with a Smart TV, you can stream your favorite services using your own streaming accounts. Several of our RV sites also have excellent southern exposure for guests using satellite TV.

Yes. Several of our RV sites have excellent southern exposure for satellite reception. If satellite access is important, please let us know when making your reservation, and we’ll do our best to assign a site with the best available view of the southern sky.

No. Holy Smoke Resort does not have public restrooms or shower facilities. Our RV Park is designed for self-contained RVs with their own restroom and shower amenities.

No. We do not have laundry facilities on-site. A public laundromat is conveniently located just a few minutes away in Keystone.

No. Holy Smoke Resort offers RV sites for self-contained RVs and modern cabins. We do not offer tent camping or tent sites.

Wood and charcoal campfires are not permitted. Guests are welcome to use propane fire pits or gas grills. We also rent propane grills for $20 for your entire stay, which includes one propane cylinder. Additional propane cylinders are available for purchase if needed.

No. Because every RV site includes a full sewer hookup, a separate dump station is not necessary.

Can I make reservations online?

Yes! You can book most cabins, RV sites, and our Vacation Rental directly through our website 24 hours a day. If you don’t see the accommodations you’re looking for, please give us a call—we may have additional availability or be able to help you find the best option.

Yes. We make every effort to keep our website up to date with current rates and availability. Please note that rates are subject to change without notice and may vary during holidays, special events, or peak travel periods.

Our cancellation policy varies depending on the type of accommodation and the time of year. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy at the bottom of this page for complete details before making your reservation. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help.

ou can make your reservation up to one year in advance. We recommend booking early, especially for summer vacations, holidays, Sturgis Rally, and other popular travel dates, as accommodations can fill quickly.

Yes. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request whenever possible. While specific cabins and RV sites cannot be guaranteed, we make every effort to honor reservation requests.

During our operating season, our office is open daily from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Mountain Time. If you reach our voicemail, please leave a message and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.

Holy Smoke Resort is open seasonally from May 1 through mid-October. Although our cabins and RV Park are closed during the winter months, our office remains available by phone year-round. We’re happy to answer questions, take reservations, and help you plan your Black Hills vacation.

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. We do not accept American Express. If you have any questions about payment methods or deposits, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

How far is Holy Smoke Resort from Mount Rushmore National Memorial?

Holy Smoke Resort is located just 4 miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial—about a 5-minute drive—making it easy to visit one of America’s most iconic landmarks.

Most guests spend 1–3 hours at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, depending on whether they explore the museum, Presidential Trail, evening lighting ceremony (seasonal), or dine at the memorial.

We are located about 3 minutes  from downtown Keystone, where you’ll find restaurants, shopping, museums, attractions, and family activities.

Yes! Holy Smoke Resort is centrally located in the Black Hills, making it an excellent home base for exploring Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens, Rush Mountain Adventure Park, and many other popular attractions.

Keystone has a convenience store where you can pick up snacks, drinks, ice, and other everyday essentials. For a larger selection of groceries, the nearest full-service supermarkets are located in Hill City (about a 15-minute drive) and Rapid City (about a 30-minute drive).

There is one gas station in Keystone, located just a few minutes from Holy Smoke Resort. It’s convenient for gasoline, snacks, drinks, and other travel essentials.

The gas station in Keystone does not offer diesel fuel. The nearest diesel fuel is available at BJ’s Country Store on Highway 16, on your way to Rapid City. If you’re traveling with a diesel truck or motorhome, we recommend fueling there before arriving at the resort or before heading home.

Propane bottle refills are available at Nelson Oil & Gas in Hill City, approximately 15 minutes from Holy Smoke Resort. We recommend calling ahead if you have questions about refill hours or propane tank sizes.

The nearest full-service hospital is Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, located about 30 minutes from the resort. Urgent care and medical clinics are also available in Rapid City.

Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) is located about 30–35 minutes from Holy Smoke Resort and offers daily flights from several major airlines.

Yes. Custer State Park requires an entrance license. Passes can be purchased at park entrance stations or online through South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks.

The nearest pharmacies are located in Rapid City, approximately 30 minutes from Holy Smoke Resort. Rapid City offers several pharmacy options, including Walgreens, CVS, and other pharmacies located inside major grocery and retail stores.

Yes! Bagged ice is available for purchase at the Holy Smoke Resort office. If the office is closed, you can still purchase ice using the convenient honor payment box located outside the office. Simply place your payment in the box and help yourself to the ice.

The nearest liquor stores are located in Keystone and Hill City, both just a short drive from Holy Smoke Resort.

South Dakota fishing licenses can be purchased online through South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks or at many sporting goods stores and businesses throughout the Black Hills. If you’re looking for the closest location, stop by the office and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.

The nearest ATMs are located at the Red Garter Saloon and the Keystone Convenience Store, both just a few minutes from Holy Smoke Resort in Keystone.

Yes. Most major cell phone providers have service at Holy Smoke Resort. However, because we’re located in the beautiful Black Hills, signal strength and coverage can vary depending on your carrier, your device, and your exact location on the property. If your cell signal is weak, you can use our complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi for Wi-Fi calling and messaging if your phone supports those features.

The Black Hills enjoy warm summer days, cool mornings and evenings, and changing mountain weather. Daytime temperatures are often in the 70s and 80s, while evenings can cool into the 40s and 50s, especially in the spring and fall. Afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are also common during the summer months. We recommend bringing clothing you can layer, along with a light jacket or sweatshirt for cooler mornings and evenings.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. For non-emergency assistance, our office staff will be happy to help direct you to nearby medical facilities, pharmacies, or other local services during office hours.
