You can also visit the Keystone Historical Museum and discover more about the people and events that shaped this Black Hills community. 5. Visit Crazy Horse Memorial
Crazy Horse Memorial is another must-see destination in the Black Hills. Visitors can learn about the mountain carving, Native American culture and history, and the story behind this enormous work in progress. 6. Visit Reptile Gardens
Reptile Gardens is a longtime Black Hills attraction and a fun stop for families. Explore the beautiful gardens and see reptiles, birds, and other animals from around the world. Located along Highway 16 between Rapid City and the Mount Rushmore area, it’s an easy attraction to include on your way to or from Holy Smoke Resort.
7. Drive Through Bear Country USA
Bear Country USA offers a unique drive-through wildlife experience in the Black Hills. From the comfort of your vehicle, you can see black bears, elk, reindeer, bighorn sheep, wolves, and other North American wildlife. 8. Explore Rush Mountain Adventure Park
Rush Mountain Adventure Park offers a mix of underground exploration and family fun. Tour Rushmore Cave to see impressive limestone formations, then enjoy the park’s other attractions, including rides and activities above ground. Located near Keystone, it’s an easy addition to a day of exploring the Mount Rushmore area.
9. Drive Iron Mountain Road
Iron Mountain Road is one of the most scenic drives in the Black Hills. Famous for its winding curves, pigtail bridges, and tunnels that frame views of Mount Rushmore, the drive is an experience all by itself. Take your time and enjoy the overlooks along the way. Like Needles Highway, this road has narrow tunnels and tight turns, so RV travelers should check vehicle-size restrictions and plan an alternate route when necessary.
